For the {Guys}... Bow Tying::101

okay guys, no more excuses for not sporting the distinguished look of a bow tie... this guy starts off a little miffed, but by the end... boy is he confident{!}

How to ::Tie a bow tie.

Step 1: Make a simple knot, allowing slightly more length (one to two inches) on the end of A.
Step 2: Lay A out of the way, fold B into the normal bow shape, and position it on the first knot you made.
Step 3: Drop A vertically over folded end B.
Step 4: Double back A on itself and position it over the knot so that the two folded ends make a cross.
Step 5: The hard part: Pass folded end A under and behind the left side (yours) of the knot and through the loop behind folded end B.
Step 6: Tighten the knot you have created, straightening, particularly in the center.

Your {Registry}...

many brides struggle with the decision of the number of gift items that the couple should place in their registry. although you should strive to balance the pricing of your gift selections, ultimately, the number of items is driven by the number of guests that are invited to your event. suffice it to say, the larger the guestlist, the larger the registry list {and vice versa}. be certain to be tactful when relaying information about your registry. as a matter of fact, let your bridal party be the bearer of this wonderful news!

{Style} + {Grace} + {Elegance} = {Chandelier} as inspiration ...

{photos via wedding paper diva::special thanx}

i want to share this inspiration board that my friends at Wedding Paper Diva is featuring. for this board, the {divas} have chosen the chic and elegant chandelier as the inspiration for all things {wedding}. The {divas} describe the chandelier as "the epitome of style and grace".

After the {Reception}

{photo via weddingpaper divas::special thanx}

although you are very glad to have shared your day with a host of family and friends, you and your new spouse may be eager to welcome the end of the reception and the start your honeymoon. With months of ,sometimes, stressful planning of your grand soiree and the excitement of the thought of getting underway with your new new life together, you are certain to be worn out by the end of the reception.
that may be the traditional feel of things; however, there are those couples who don't want to stop the music or the party. these dance-fever fiends have started a sweeping new trend aptly labelled 'The Wedding “after” Party'. couples are extending their reception {at a much lower cost}, to their favorite dance spot. there they continue to dance the {rest} of the night away. for these couples, this 'after' party enables them to show appreciation to all of their family and friends, local and long distance, who have, for months, awaited this much anticipated celebration. rather it's the night of or the day after, it does not seem to matter. all that matters is the untraditional but much welcomed time spent between friends and family.
if this sounds like just the 'icing on the cake' for your celebration... plan it perfect and don't forget to send the {extended} invite !!!

{Turkish} Party Theme...

can't go to Istanbul, Turkey like Matt Luer... create your own Turkish rehearsal dinner theme. begin with the ideas below ... {bath optional *}

Fantastic ideas to throw an exotic gathering

Mez Platter: Serve your quests the ultimate in Turkish mezes: grape leaves, roasted eggplant, sheep's milk cheese, olives, baklava.

Serving Platter: French Bull Istanbul pattern.

Tea Pot: Turkish tea is full-flavored and too strong to be served in large cups thus it's always offered in little tulip-shaped glasses. You can add sugar in it but no milk, and you can have it either lighter (weaker) or darker (stronger) depending on your taste. Turkish tea is made by pouring some very strong tea into the glass, then cutting it with water to the desired strength. Served boiling hot -- you have to hold the glasses by the rim to save your fingertips from burning!

Party Picks: Eye catching party picks to spear the delicious mezes makes for easy clean up.
Tulip napkins: Everybody thinks that tulips come from Holland, actually, tulips are native to Turkey & Central Asia. The botanical name for tulips, Tulipa, is derived from the Turkish word "tulbend" or "turban", considered the King of Bulbs. In the 17th century the popularity of tulips brought a "Tulipmania" to Holland, bulbs were sold by weight, usually while they were still in the ground and some could cost more than a house. Eventually the tulip market crashed as over-supply led dealers into bankruptcy and many people lost their savings all for this beautiful flower.

Scented rose petals: Keep with the sensual theme and spread these on the coffee table or even in the bathroom for that extra touch.

Antique looking mirrors: Finally a party favor to keep, your guests will always fondly remember your fantastic party.

{WED}IQUETTE

Jeanne Hamilton has compiled and condensed the most commonly committed faux pas thousands of her fans have sent her over the years, into a hilarious book which drives the points home with real-life stories. with posts such as Guestzillas, Rugrats and Tacky Toasts this is definitely not your traditional Emily Post's book of etiquette. forgoing the traditional pomp + circumstances that is usually classified as etiquette, this book focuses on the real nit + grit of out of control behavior. pick up your copy at Amazon and/or Barnes + Nobles and as the title states:: '...avoid everlasting damnation'

How Many Bridesmaids are too much?

Bride has 24 bridesmaids

{photo via bridalwave::special thanx*}

Bride Michelle O' Reilly couldn't bear to leave anyone out of her wedding and so she didn't: her wedding to Kevin Doherty featured 24 bridesmaids.
Her entire collection of nieces, friends' daughters and her own daughters joined the wedding party, making dress fittings, transport to the church and a bridesmaid pecking order a logistical nightmare, although Michelle's three daughters had the special task of holding the bride's train.
One of the most challenging decisions to make, when planning a wedding, can be deciding on the number of attendants that will share in the planning process with you during this special time. trying to decide at which level of cousins, neices, friends-of-family or sorority sisters will be the cut off point for inclusion, can be a ardous and painstaking decision. what do you think? How many bridesmaids is too many? how many bridesmaids are/were in your wedding party? what was your 'cut-off' criteria? share your comments with other brides...

Carrie's {Big} Wedding ...

i am, unapologetically, a 'Sex and The City' fan !!! i don't champion one character over the other {although I can easily identify with Carrie's seemingly excessive need for shoes...} and i look forward to every episode that airs...even though i have seen them a gadzillion times ! so, needless to say, i was beyond ecstatic when the info came announcing the upcoming movie. all of my brides are aware of this crazy need for this 'chic flick' entertainment, so i was elated when these pics arrived in my email...
